Carla and Derrick – barefoot beach wedding
Carla and Derrick had many things in common and one thing that they agreed on right from the begining of their wedding planning was that it would be relaxed, fun and barefoot beach wedding. Having family friends in the Ballito area, made this their chosen destination and thus enlisted the services of Timeless Weddings to bring all their fun ideas to fruition. A number of venues were visited as potential options, but they fell in love with Canelands Hotel as it suited their vision of having a wedding that was more of a “house party” than a formal event.
On the day of the wedding, the morning was spent with Angela from Make up your Mind ensuring that the girls arrived at the ceremony looking absolutely stunning. While the guys spent the morning on the beach, writing their speeches and just relaxing.
The afternoon weather was perfect for a barefoot beach wedding and sea tides played along perfectly to ensure that the ceremony went along without a glitch on the beach. Carla walked down a white aisle runner lined with paper windmills with personlised purple ribbon on them saying “we tied the knot”. These along with the other stationery were beauitfully made by Lara’s Designs.
Following the ceremony a group photo shoot was done along with the congratulations, before the couple headed off for their creative shoot, of which there were many settings to choose from in close proximity. During this time the guests enjoyed a perfect afternoon with sundowners on the deck of the hotel. The mood of the day was captured to perfection by the husband and wife team at Peppermint Pix
The couple opted for an unusal colour scheme of lime green and purple – which came together beautifully. To bring in the green we used patterned table cloths and the purple was brought in with the flowers and the grooms attire. The entire set up of the wedding was relaxed and casual with flower detail being kept minamalist in glass holders interspersed with candles. Carla opted for a bouquet of white carnations surrounded by closed St Joseph Lilies – it was so different and looked stunning. The flowers were done to perfection by Sonja at Mokka Blooms and the decor provided by Designer Decor. A bedouin marquee was put up by Nomadik Tents on the front of the venue and the set up was couches, ottomans, cocktail tables and bar stools. The menu served was all finger food with different options coming out of the kitchen every hour – from mini bunny chows, prawn sticks to noodle boxes served with chop sticks. All very relaxed and casual. The cake was cake pops decorated like little bridal gowns and tuxedo’s – too cute!
The dancing started off with the guests being entertained by Carla and Derrick with a well choreographed first dance that set the tone of what was to come for the rest of the night!
Congratulations to Carla and Derrick – I know your lives will be filled with fun and laughter – the tone that was set on your wedding day.
