Charisse and Peter – vintage theme wedding
Charisse and Peter had been dating for 15 years when they decided that it was time to tie the knot. Residing in Gauteng, they chose the beautiful Natal north coast to be the setting for their wedding vintage themed day as it is the location of their new home to which they would be moving to in the future.
After much searching they chose the venue Collisheen as the setting for their wedding vows to be exchanged. Charisse initially wanted to do most of the wedding co-ordination herself, but after much hair pulling, decided that using the services of Noreen at Timeless Weddings was going to be a far less stressful option for her.
Charisse loves anything pretty and selected a vintage theme for their wedding using soft shades of of pale pink, lilac, dove-grey as the colours for the wedding day. The three bridesmaids selected their own style of dress and each wore one of the three colours – it really came together beautifully and the colours complimented each other to perfection. All the girls looked stunning – having their hair and make-up done by the professional stylists at Make up your mind.
Charisse did not want anything structured in the wedding – her beautiful flowers were done by Sue’s Flowers and included a combination of Protea’s, roses, lisianthus, fynbos and subtle greenery. The Protea in the her bouquet added a subtle South African influence and was softened by the roses and lisianthus that accompanied it. The handle of the bouquet was wrapped in a beautiful lace which tied in with Charisse’s dress. Her shoes were a soft dusty pink which were adorned with a “Mrs T” underneath for that little bit of detail! All beautiful details that added to their vintage theme wedding.
The wedding candles incorported the couples three children and all five of the family participated in the candle lighting ceremony – these candles also had the lace detail with some subtle pearl and crystal bling and the person’s name on each one. The ceremony took place in the quaint chapel at the venue followed by cocktails on the lawn. The guests were treated to a Biltong Buffet – which as you can imagine was very well received for something very different and certainly unique! At the reception we had a delicious sweet buffet that included sweets as well as the cup cakes to cure any sweet tooth desires!
All the tables were decorated following the same theme with certain elements present, but put together slightly differently on each of the tables. Unique details, such as old books, bird cages and antiques adorned each table and the table numbers were pasted to the front cover of the books. Strings of pearls added to the Vintage theme as did dinner candles and trinket boxes. Charisse made each of the serviette details which also could be worn as a bracelet for the ladies. The cake was crafted by Rudi from Cakes Etc and featured a stunning cake topper of a porceline couple that replicated the couple’s look.
The stationery was done by Lara Friday and all included the bird cage element which was a fundamental part of the wedding featuring on the stationery as well as the decor. Love and hearts dominated at this wedding and were important features for the romantic bride and her groom.
The stormy skies created a dramatic backdrop for the photographs, which were captured by Trent Saunders, and luckily held off so that all the couples photographs could still be done outside in the sugar cane and gardens around the venue. Rand Video ensured that all the special moments of their gorgeous vintage themed wedding were captured on video to be re-lived and enjoyed for many years to come.
We wish Peter and Charisse everything of the best as they start their married life together and cannot wait till they make the big move to the north coast to live here permanently!
