Cheryl and Martin – coastal forest setting wedding
Cheryl and Martin approached Timeless Weddings to co-ordinate all their wedding arrangements due to the fact that they both had very busy work commitments. They also wanted to ensure that everything ran smoothly with the build up to the wedding as well as on the big day itself. With just the venue, photographer and DJ booked, there was plenty left to do. When we met we immediately hit it off, and I was elated that they chosen Timeless Weddings to work with them. So straight to work it was to get flowers, décor, cake, Minister, stationery, musicians etc booked.
We also provided style and design support to bring together their creative ideas for a stylish coastal forest setting wedding, suggestions of items to hire to bring the ideas to life and then the sourcing of ribbons, confetti, glassware, lighting, sweets and other incidentals.
Cheryl and Martin wanted to include a South African influence with the use of indigenous South African flowers – this was done using the King Protea’s as the central flower.
They also wanted to create truly happy memories for their family and friends – some of who had traveled a long way to celebrate with them. With the surroundings making the most of the stunning coastal forest setting, we enhanced the unique architecture with shades of purple through an abundance of beautiful flowers.
So to the details of Cheryl and Martin truly beautiful wedding day…
Coast forest Venue
Cheryl and Martin’s wedding venue was Zimbali Coastal Resort. The wedding ceremony took place on the pool deck at the Zimbali Lodge. This is a beautiful contemporary coastal forest setting in which to exchange your vows – surrounded by palm trees, overlooking the rim flow pool and out to the distant sea views.
Pre-drinks and cake cutting were done on the terrace area to the sounds of the String Quartet creating the perfect ambiance. The beautiful cake was cut and served with delicious bubbly to toast the couple.
It was then up to the Crowned Eagle Restaurant at the Zimbali Country Club right in the middle of the coastal forest where the rest of the evening’s festivities and the party took place.
Boston Ivy did an amazing job with Cheryl and Martin’s flowers for their coastal forest setting wedding. Cheryl’s stunning bridal bouquet consisted of Protea’s, orchids, roses, fynbos and kolkol in a modern and unique style. The two large silver urns were filled with King Protea’s, Lisianthus, Roses, sweetpeas, fynbos and complement with light green foliage as was the floral detail adorned across the top of the archway. The table centres were made up of a tall glass vase – topped with a huge arrangement of flowers in a modern and contemporary design, introducing Arums and tulips into these arrangements as well. The vases were finished off with some twisted greenery in them to add some additional interest. This was placed on a mirror and finished off with simple candle detail.
In order to create a stunning base to the table décor, we brought in stylish linen to set a solid and beautiful base to the table décor. The venue was enhanced with very subtle fairy lights and draping. Table numbers were Perspex mirror numbers to go with the contemporary feel, while keeping a classic feel to the setting.
Vibrant colour was introduced throughout the wedding day from Cheryl’s eye-catching purple shoes; to the beautiful purple bridesmaid dress; to the deep purple chair detail tied to the chairs.
The stationery was created by Lara from Lara’s Designs. This was done in a beautiful design using a very deep purple base which was then embossed over with silver foiling. They also created a unique monogram that was carried through to all their overseas weddings and celebrations. The finished product was fabulous! The seating plan was done as individual cards with each guests name and on the inside their table name. Menu’s were presented on laser cut Perspex feet to tie in with the table numbers that were used and also displayed simple foiling.
Family & Fun
Cheryl and Martin’s wedding day was about family and creating memories. The ceremony and the speeches were highly entertaining, which was followed by dancing the night away to the fabulous DJ. Cheryl does a lot of dancing for a hobbie, so Martin had to rise to the occasion and perform – no pressure!
A selection of guest tags were provided for guests to write their messages to Cheryl and Martin and these were then tied to the wish tree provided by the couple. Each guests prepared a special message for them to take into their married lives and I am sure that they spent many happy hours reading these over and over.
I loved every minute of helping them with their wedding plans. The wedding day came together beautifully and it was a real honour to be a part of their day and bringing it all to fruition. Thank you Cheryl and Martin! And Congratulations!
