Nikki and Lee – Cape winelands summer wedding

Nikki and Lee both from Portsmouth in the UK approached Karen from Timeless Weddings to assist them with organising their Cape winelands summer wedding in South Africa.

Neither Nikki nor Lee had been to South Africa before but they loved the idea of a small intimate wedding ceremony on a Wine Estate with close friends and family. They felt that they needed local knowledge to help with selecting the right venue and suppliers for their Special Day.

So planning started about 18 months before the event, with selecting the beautiful Steenberg Hotel and Wine estate near Tokia in Cape Town. The couple then booked accommodation in Camps Bay, so Steenberg was a perfect commuting distance from where everyone was staying.

The couple arrived in Cape Town a few days before the wedding and met with Colleen at the venue to run though the Order of the day and review the layout.

So onto the Details..

The ceremony was set for midday, and a 16 seater coach and luxury car were booked to transport all the guests and bride to the venue. Guests and groom were escorted to the ceremony area with marimba band AmaAmbush playing lively upbeat music. Nikki and Lee were both keen on having a outdoor garden ceremony, and the terrace  area at Steenberg was the perfect option.

The bridal party arrived and the band played Nikki down the aisle to the specially arranged composition of Carl Orff’s – Gassenhaver which had been a special request by the bride.

The ceremony flowers consisted of a mass floral arrangement of White Pharaenopsis orchids and Blue Dendrobiums with greenery displayed in a large Urn on a white plinth as the altar focal point.  White Wimbledon chairs were hired in and decorated with white and blue posies and ribbon down the aisle. With white petals scattered down the aisle and little bags with petals for the guests the looks was complete by the marvelously talented team from To-Netts.

Nikki’s stunning trailing bouquet consisted of white pharaenopsis orchids and blue dendrobiums, which perfectly matched her elegant off the shoulder, white gown with crystal details around the neck and waist. Lee’s blue dendrobium buttonhole also harmonized with his light beige suit and casual open neck white shirt.

Following the ceremony and signing of the register the newly weds walked with their guests over to the exclusive Gorgeous venue for the wine tasting accompanied by the wonderful music of the band. All the amazing photographs were taken in the grounds of the Wine Estate on what turned out to be an idyllic summers day, by Jacques Lloyd of Real <a title="Real Simple Photography" href="http://www agile project” target=”_blank”>Simple Photography

The wedding breakfast was held in Steenberg’s restaurant and the table was beautifully decorated with an embossed table cloth, clear glass containers of various sizes holding the delicate white orchids and following through with the light blue dendrobiums, matching blue pebbles and candles.

After a sumptuous three course meal and speeches, the guests and newly weds took the coach back to Camps Bay to continue the celebrations. Further festivities took place back  in the UK with a party for an extended group of family and friends that were unable to join them in Cape Town, but the wonderful memories and photographs were shared with everyone.

Congratulations Nikki and Lee – you were a dream couple to work with and we wish you much love and happiness for the future.

  1. I can not thank Timeless weddings enough for meeting every request (and at times very short notice) for making my day the best day of my life. Everything was thought off and meet to perfection to ensure I had a very stress free time. Amazing and very professional suppliers they used to cover my flowers, hair and my wonderful and memorable photographs. Anyone thinking of using a wedding organiser for your day, I would say go for it and most definatly use Timeless weddings.

  2. Love the chair detail used at the ceremony – so pretty. Blue is not an easy colour to work with, but you brought it in so well and in such a simple way.
