Sara and Kelvin – unique sunrise beach wedding
Sara and Kelvin decided to tie the knot in a completely different way to the usual afternoon wedding followed by a reception dinner. They both love early mornings and breakfast is their favourite meal of the day – so a sunrise beach wedding was their ideal start to a day and a new life together!
After much venue searching for the perfect morning location, they settled on the beautiful Canelands Hotel (www.canelandssaltrock.co.za) in Salt Rock along the North coast of Kwazulu Natal. This venue presented the perfect setting for a beach wedding, being situated right on the most beautiful piece of coastline, and ability to accommodate the 80 guests they had planned to invite.
On the day that Noreen from Timeless Weddings met with Sara and Kelvin at Canelands to discuss the co-ordination services they required, everyone got to see the venue and location in the most dreadful weather possible and agreed that it could not get any worse – given the torrential rain, freezing cold and gale force winds! Fortunately on the wedding day the weather turned out just perfect.
Sara and Kelvin bravely undertook all the wedding planning themselves, but decided that they required Timeless Weddings to assist with “on the day” co-ordination to ensure everything was pulled together smoothly on their special day, especially as the set up was having to start at 3am that morning. A little early for a bridal couple to start their day running around making preparations and getting ready.
Hair and make-up for Sara and the bridal party started at 03h30 and the Make-up artist made sure that Sara was looking stunningly beautiful by 06h30. Timeless Weddings also assisted Sara with organising the floral arrangements for the wedding, and the gorgeous and very different bouquets in shades of purple, white and green, as well as the ceremony arrangements of orchids were all put together by the talented Sonja from Mokka Blooms. On arrival at the wedding, guests were served a steaming cup of coffee and a freshly baked muffin, to kick start proceedings.
The ceremony took place as the sun made its appearance – just enough cloud cover to create a striking setting for the exchanging of the vows. The first photographs were taken on the beach directly after the ceremony by David Weeks (www.davidweeks.co.za) to capture the best of the early morning light.
These gorgeous cup cakes were baked by Sara’s very talented sister and all of them had a Lindt chocolate inside as an extra special treat – divine!
During the bridal party photo session the guests enjoyed the cold breakfast buffet on the wooden deck of the hotel, savouring this unique experience and setting. Once the couple returned to the hotel, there was a choice of 3 hot breakfast options along with the traditional Champagne and orange juice. As the delicious breakfast was consumed, everyone sat back to enjoy the live background music.
This wedding was indeed unique and breath taking, a sunrise that all the guests and the bridal couple will never forget. We are sure that this will inspire many other couples to consider holding their celebration at this magical, quiet time of the day….
